Whether you have previously visited the monastery of Sant Pere de Rodes or not, join this experience of dramatized visits to families because it will allow you to discover the stories and legends of pirates and privateers linked to this unique space. On Tuesdays and Fridays in the month of August, until September 8, you will be able to participate in this proposal especially aimed at the little ones and their families. At night, families can discover through this activity the stories and legends of pirates and corsairs who, for centuries, sailed and punished the Cap de Creus Coast. During the tour, participants know the defensive function of the monastery during that time, the story of a pirate who became a monk or the discovery of a treasure of 658 coins that took place in 1989 in this jewel of Catalan Romanesque art.

An educator characterized as a pirate is in charge of directing and accompanying the participants during the visit. Mysteries and fun in equal parts for the whole family through this proposal that ends with a tasting of grenache for adults and juices for the little ones.

This activity is part of ‘Vive el Patrimonio’, the cultural summer program organized every year by the Agència Catalana del Patrimoni Cultural of the Generalitat de Catalunya with the aim of bringing the cultural heritage closer to the public and discovering in a different way some of the the monuments of all Catalonia, from very diverse cultural initiatives. In the counties of Girona there are activities planned for the Monumental Complex of Sant Pere de Rodes, the Canonical of Vilabertran, the sites of Empúries and Ullastret, as well as the Art Museum of Girona and the Museum of Archeology of Catalonia in Girona.
